A Stitch In Time Saves Nine

Proverbs held a huge place in my thoughts as I was growing up. My very dear, elderly grandmother was full to running over with proverbs; and she resided in my home for approximately 9 years, while I was growing up. She was still with my parents many years after I was married.
Grandma was a real asset to our home, not that she wasnt always busy, and helping wherever she could; but I loved being with her. She had a very loving spirit.
Grandmas proverbs seemed to just spill out of her in many simple, everyday situations; and I often mulled them over in my mind. Many were from the Bible, and others, to me, seemed to be just my Grandmas proverb.
One proverb that seems to stand out to me was the proverb, " a stitch in time saves 9. "
So many times, I would try a little short cut, trying to perform some of my tasks, and there would be a slip-up somewhere, which ended in disaster. I would think, " Oh, if I would have just remembered that an " ounce of prevention, is worth a pound of cure, " or, " a stitch in time saves 9. " Each, of course, pointed out the need for being orderly, not slothful, and doing it right the first time
As I think back on the many proverbs that I was taught, I thank God for a Grandmother that pointed these out to me. It would be fun to know just how many " stitches " these proverbs have saved me
Grandma has been gone for many years, but the memories, and her wisdom, certainly linger on through the years.

Yes, Zeph, a stitch in time saves 9 means that if you take care of things immediately, you usually save a much bigger job when it will no longer wait to be done, as things that are not fixed usually continue to deteriorate.
I know I have read this one but thought I commented. Wisdom from grandmother - be glad you had a Godly one....mine tried to get me to play with the Ouiji board with her... oh, dear!
